I opened The Dog Shed in 2014 and behind the quaint pale blue weatherboard facade and window boxes is a clean and contemporary custom built professional dog grooming salon that’s well equipped and based at my home. I have high standards and ethics, and I care deeply for the dogs I groom.
I provide an exclusive premium one to one care service for small and medium sized dogs. They have my undivided attention from the moment they enter my room to the moment I hand them back, from bath to home time in as little as 90 minutes.
Animal welfare, safety, comfort and wellbeing is at the heart of my service. Your dog’s are never left unattended and I use a safety aid on every dog. My Canine Health and First Aid certificate is kept up to date.
Being a holistic dog groomer I will always put the dogs mental welfare as well as their physical welfare above anything else without exception. I work with your dog at their pace to help make the process relaxing and positive. I believe strongly we need to work together as a team to be able to give your dogs the best grooming experience.
Humanity over vanity always.
Dog grooming is an unregulated industry so legally we don’t need to have any dog grooming qualifications, knowledge or hands on experience to groom a live sentient being but since the moment I chose to become a dog groomer I have always been committed to investing in my education to become a skilled professional. I am fully qualified with my City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma for Professional Dog Stylists which covers both the practical and theory of dog grooming. I also have my Level 4 Licentiateship of the City & Guilds Institute Professional Recognition Award. The Professional Recognition Awards have been developed for those at the highest professional levels within their chosen careers and entitles me to use the internationally recognised post-nominals LCGI. Information about my extensive continued personal development can be found on the Qualifications/CPD page.
I incorporate Reiki into every groom. Reiki is a gentle healing therapy that can help relieve pain and let go tension or anxiety, reduce feelings of stress and help to keep existing health conditions from flaring up and revitalises with good energy, calmness and wellbeing, creating a unique bond between me and the dogs I groom. Some dogs feel so calm they fall asleep during their session.
I use a wide range of premium, luxurious 100% natural plant derived shampoos, conditioners and conditioning sprays which contain no SLS, parabans, petro-chemicals or synthetic perfumes. I’ll choose which products to use based on my extensive knowledge and experience for each dog’s individual needs.
As a holistic dog groomer I believe in a 4-6 week maintenance schedule, it helps to develop a close bond between me and the dogs and they learn to trust me. A dog groomed on a 4-6 week schedule sees it as a part of life, whereas a dog groomed every 3-6 months thinks it’s being punished. I don’t take dogs who would only come once or twice as this wouldn’t be fair to them. A 4-6 week groom is cheaper than 7+week groom.
Although based in Exhall, Coventry I have clients travel to me from other parts of Warwickshire and the West Midlands. Easily accessible from Junction 3 of the M6.
